Here’s an example: Let’s say you’ve been dealt three 5’s - in hearts, diamonds and clubs and a King of hearts. The river is the 5 of spades, the 7 of hearts, the ace of clubs and the 10 and Queen of Hearts. Straightaway you’ll see that there’s a four of a kind in there (5’s), sadly three of those 5’s are in your hand so because you can only use two of your cards the four of a kind just aint gonna happen. Instead, utilising two of your cards and three from the river, the best hand you can muster is a flush – your 5 and King of Hearts and the 7, 10 and Queen in the river.
The initial impression of Omaha Poker may well be that you’ll be able to play more hands because you’ve been dealt four cards instead of two, this actually turns out to be a long way from the truth. In fact Omaha is a whole new challenge and perfect for anyone who fancy’s something a bit different.
